AT MARCIA WOOD GALLERY, ATLANTA
Stone Soup
A progressive group exhibition
The fable ‘Stone Soup’ tells the story of how the most basic elements of a pot, some water, and a stone become a meal that nourishes an entire village over the fire of creativity. Through many individual contributions, community, belief, and perhaps a touch of magic, a village threatened by great challenges creates sustenance that is rich and delicious. Inspired by this story and apropos to the difficult moment we find ourselves in, our ongoing accumulative exhibition of the same name celebrates our gallery family and art community.
The exhibition will exist in two complementary dimensions. To physically reflect the evolutionary aspect of the accumulation of work, a rehanging of the gallery space will take place every two weeks. An online representation will include an expanded collection of works by each artist, video tours of the exhibition, as well as Postcards from a Pandemic studio tours by gallery artists in quarantine. The run of Stone Soup is open-ended and hopes to provide a rich and continuously evolving experience created by, for, and with lovers of art.
Every two weeks the work of additional artists will be featured. We are excited to take this opportunity to consider the depth and breadth of individual artists’ work whether showcasing new works, re-visiting earlier work, exploring themes, chronology, as well as experimental or collaborative content or media.
